Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is facing a motion of no confidence in the government over her defamatory remarks against President Draupadi Murmu. Gandhi's address to the president as a "poor man" has drawn from politicians. The speech was a response to the president's stance on various political issues but has led to accusations of disrespect towards the president.

Some leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said Gandhi's remarks were an insult to the president. BJP members have moved a motion in the House demanding the Congress leader's removal from office and demanding an apology and disciplinary action. They believe that such statements undermine the honour of the country’s highest political authority. On the other hand, members of the Congress Party defended Gandhi, claiming that his words were misunderstood and taken out of context.

The incident has led to a political debate within the government, with both sides accusing each other of disrespecting state institutions. The bill will be discussed in the next meeting of the Prime Minister and the next steps will be decided. As the discussions continue, political analysts believe that the incident highlights the growing gap between the ruling and opposition parties in India’s political landscape.
